Step 1: Connection

It begins with a conversation. Whether through a referral, a school, or community partner, we connect with the young person and begin by simply listening — meeting them exactly where they are, without judgment.

Step 2: Relationship Building

We focus on relationships first. Before any program or process begins, we take the time to build trust, understand their story, and create a space where they feel safe, seen, and supported.

Step 3: Restorative Skill-Building

Together, we explore opportunities that help young people take accountability, learn new skills, and grow.

This might include restorative panels, support groups, accountability meetings, or other programs designed to foster understanding, responsibility, and hope.

Step 4: Mentorship and Ongoing Support

Growth doesn’t happen in isolation. A Tandem mentor walks beside each young person — offering encouragement, modeling consistency, and helping them navigate real-life challenges along the way.

Step 5: Empowerment and Growth

As young people gain confidence, insight, and belonging, they begin to step into their potential. Many give back to their communities — and some even become mentors themselves. This is where restoration takes root and hope is restored.
